Michaël Villeneuve

I spent most of 2021 leading the development of the Plugins project. Having laid solid foundations, I will now be focusing more on the architectural side of both this project and more globally on the entire Room tribe (where live events happen). Our team evolving quickly, I will be using my experience to help and mentor other developers of the team, meanwhile participating in the creation of solid technical grounds for the entire company.

I build awesome features with highly interesting real-time / volume challenges. Mostly, I work on a massive Ruby on Rails monolith, designing scalable HTTP/ Websockets APIs that I plug to a VueJS frontend. More recently, I have been leading the development of a major, modular, plugin system.

I worked as a Lead Developer, helping a million users startup rebuild its app from scratch in a team of 10 developers. Besides building features and creating the architectural foundations of the app and its backend, I was mostly in charge of laying and enforcing strong development practices: CI/CD, code quality. The app is still to this date highly rated on all platforms and one of the most complete React Native apps on the market.
