Developing the proprietary Headless CMS used by ~1000 journalists easing their day-to-day work and the Data Lake used to process and share the company's data across all the services.

I managed the refactoring of Gala.fr with the newest and coolest technologies available : Varnish 4 (ESI), Nginx, PHP-FPM 5.5, Symfony2, MariaDB Galera Cluster, Elasticsearch Cluster … (previously developped with an old untested eZ Publish, handled by an old LAMP 5.3 stack)

I collaborated with 3 developers to release this project. I dealt with the project manager to ensure the respect of the functional scope and the delivery date.

Accomplishments:

- ~90% gain on server response time (time to first byte), ~70% gain on total response time

- I managed the creation of my developer team (previously our sites were developed by a web agency)

- Setup the development environment with Vagrant/Packer and Puppet provisioning

- Setup the production deployment with Capistrano and Phing

- I managed the transition to the asynchronous loading of our ads.

- I developed a RESTful API for our mobiles applications

- I developed an in-memory image resizer (with Silex) http://img.gala.fr/index.html

In collaboration with 3 developers, I refactored the mobile project of LeGuide.com with Symfony2, backed by a solid infrastructure (based on LVS/Varnish3/Nginx/PHP-FPM ...).

The use of ESI reduced drastically the overall generation time. With proper HTTP Headers, I piloted Varnish (with a mastered configuration) to achieve an high hit rate.

- Migrating from SVN to GIT
